Weekend Routine
Here's my weekend routine in the general order that I do it in.
Top Shelf List
Combine 33 Stock Lists :
Usually the first thing I do is to generate what I call my Top Shelf list of stocks. This list is generated by taking individual lists of stocks and then sorting them by which stocks appear the most in the lists. The theory is that the stocks that show up in numerous list should be looked at first.
There are 33 lists that I combine using an Excel spreadsheet that is called StockCounter.xlsm. The lists are from both investors.com as well as various MarketSurge reports.
Import to MarketSurge and Google "Sheets"
eIBDThe Top Shelf list is then imported to MarketSurge where I can scan through the list and also I have a screen setup that I can run throughout the day looking for stocks in the Top Shelf list up 0.5% on price and up at least 20% on volume. The list is also imported into a Google "Sheet" and a page/link is available under the "Top Shelf & SOTD" tab (click here to go to it).
Investors Business Daily went from a daily to a weekly publication so each weekend I download the pdf version. The weekend paper is loaded with great stuff and here's the usual places I go.
- Big Picture : This focuses on where the market trend is highlighting the current outlook, distribution days, and leaders.
- New America : This is great source of young and upcoming companies. I like to keep these stocks in a watchlist.
- Stock Lists : The following lists have the mini-charts with a one line analysis of any bases (pay attention)
- IBD50
- Sector Leaders
- Stock Spotlight
- IPO Leaders
- Investor's Corner : A great place for learning
- What's The Market Trend? This is graph of the market with the trend as well as a breakdown of the accumulations & distribution numbers (A-E) or the IBD 6000.
- IBD Stock Analysis
Final Watchlist
All of this work yields a watchlist for the week. Paying attention to them throughout the week yields the best returns.
